Is it important to have an expiry date & brand name on every capsule & tablet?

yes it is important to have expiry date on capsule. because consuming tablets which has expired will produce adverse reactions ( the drug chemical properties changes) or some times produce no effects. Brand name or chemical name is also essential as there are many drugs which suits for the same disease in different individual.
